Minor in Disaster and Emergency Management

I’m currently in my second year at York University, studying Cities, Regions & Planning with a minor in Disaster and Emergency Management. I’m actively involved in my campus community — I mentor first-year students and sit on the Executive and Planning Committee of the Environmental and Urban Change Student Association (EUCSA). My path into Environmental Studies began later in life. While working in environmental consulting, I realized how passionate I was about this field. That realization led me back to school, where I could deepen my knowledge and connect theory with practice. Outside of academics and volunteering, I balance a full life as a mom and partner. Juggling family, work, and studies isn’t always easy, but pursuing something I truly care about has made all the difference. I believe in leading by example and showing other students — especially those who may be returning to school later or balancing multiple roles — that there’s always space to grow, contribute, and belong. I’m excited to be part of ESAC and to help build a stronger, more connected community for environmental students across Canada.

Why did you join ESAC?

I joined ESAC because I saw a community that truly reflects what I care about — creating change, sharing knowledge, and supporting one another in the environmental field. As a student in Environmental Studies, I wanted to connect with others across the country who are just as passionate about shaping more sustainable, resilient communities. ESAC felt like the right place to grow, learn, and be part of something bigger than just my own academic journey. It’s been exciting, inspiring, and deeply rewarding to be part of a team that shares that kind of energy.
